182 Social Worker (MSW) - Grant Funded Position

Position: MSW Social Workers

 Social Workers are trained mental health professionals with a degree in social work who provide services related to a person's social, emotional and life adjustment to school and/or society. School Social Workers are the link between the home, school, and community in providing direct as well as indirect services to students, families and school personnel to promote positive mental health and support students' academic and social success.

 Qualification Requirements:

 Masters of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program, LCSW preferred.

  • Prior experience in education, mental health, and/or substance abuse.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with youth, particularly in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated use of appropriate boundaries and limit setting in client interactions.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to work within the policies and procedures of a public school system, the state of Indiana, the NASW Code of Ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated timeliness in completion of documentation, records and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct and prioritize caseload and client service needs
  • Demonstrated cultural proficient practice interactions.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Pass criminal background investigation.
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and conduct occasional home visits

 Duties: 

  • Provide Social Work support services directed at the promotion of positive mental health and the prevention of substance use for students in assigned buildings, with particular service priority for caseloads of students identified by school administration.
  • Guide students in the development of positive mental health and appropriate coping skills with a particular emphasis on the reduction of discipline issues.
  • Conduct family meetings and/or occasional home visits.
  • Coordinate access for students and families with external community resources.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled Student Services trainings and Social Work supervision.

 Reimbursement: Hourly rate commensurate with similar contractual MSW positions. Positions typically average 6.5 hours per day as recorded on time and effort logs concurrent with the school day and school calendar, not to exceed 1,170 hours between the terms of the grant. As this is a grant funded contractual position, there are no benefits associated with the position and the Social Worker is considered an Independent Contractor responsible for all taxes and withholdings. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to participate in regular clinical supervision required for LCSW licensure.

 Term:    This is a contractual grant funded position for the initial period of Oct. 1, 2017- June 30, 2018 with possible likely grant renewal from the Indiana Department of Mental Health and Addiction. There are no guarantees  for contractual continuation expressed or implied, however upon successful outcomes, funding  is anticipated  to be continued beyond this school year
