Reports to:   Director of Student Support Services


  1. Coordinate placement and  review of all students with a disability Pre-K through 12th grades in assigned  cluster of schools;
  2. Serve as the professional development lead for teacher professional development in key areas such as: writing competent IEP's, developing Behavior Analyses and Support Plans, co-teaching/ team teaching, building strong relationships with students and families, CPI, and as assigned by Director of Special
  3. Research evidence based practice resource materials for students struggling with reading, language arts, and mathematics skills and model practices as
  4. Support and assist transition  team for all entering  Kindergarten, 4th, 7th students and assist with outgoing middle school students into high school; serve as a MCAS liaison for all transition  agencies  for students with disabilities in assigned buildings and
  5. Support and assist the team on IEP first draft development for initial and transition placements for students within assigned schools and programs.
  6. Assist Teachers of Record in constructing competent IEP's for reviews ensuring accuracy and compliance with district procedures and FAPE.
  7. Collaborate and support the team in creating a comprehensive behavior analyses, including conducting systematic observations, interviews, and speaking with staff for students being evaluated for ED or OHI-behavior-related
  8. Work closely with building Response to Instruction-RTI-A and intervention-RTI-B
  9. Assist special education in developing and implementing social skills curricula for individual students based on their
  10. Be the designee Chair of the Case Conference Committee when
  11. Be the designee Chair of the Manifest Determination conferences.
  12. Assist the Building Principal by conducting (at least one documented observation in 1st semester) of each Paraprofessional to collaborate with the principals
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or


  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • Teaching experience with various disabilities; students in crisis, guidance and counseling; competent in analyzing behavior, developing behavior support plans, writing individualized educat'1on programs; can coach and model techniques for teachers; is competent with high quality instructional  techniques understands assessments (state and local) and  how they impact a child's progress; compassionate and courteous manner with children, staff, and  parents; works well with others;; extensive experience in IEP development; experience using IEP; perseverance to read, manage, and modify  IEP's.
  • Valid Indiana Teacher License or Valid Out of State Teacher License
