150 Bus Driver - Substitute

Summary

By contract, you must be a substitute school bus driver before being hired as a contracted school bus driver with a permanent route.

  • Report on time
  • Perform pre and post trip inspection and report mechanical problems
  • Transport students to and from school safely, following all traffic laws.
  • Able to work with all students including special needs and pre-kindergarten
  • Able to communicate with co-workers, office staff, school staff and parents
  • Be knowledgeable in reading a route sheet, following directions and staying on time
  • Drive conventional and transit style diesel buses professionally
  • Keep bus clean
  • Average of 4.5 hours per day between the hours of 5:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
  • Summers and holidays off

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Good driving record
  • Submit to a Background Check
  • Follow or be able to and willing to pass all DOT drug and alcohol guidelines
  • Obtain a Class "B" permit with "P" and "S" endorsements
  • Free training is provided for your CDL license
  • Maintain a current CDL license
  • Maintain a current DOT physical

1. I understand that this is a substitute position.  As a substitute, I understand that my employment is temporary and that hours and days of employment are decided based on the availability of substitute work to be performed.  As such, I have no expectations of a pre-determined number of days or hours I will work during the year.

2. I understand that I must renew my application annually.  If I renew my application and my services have been satisfactory, I have a reasonable assurance of continued work under the same terms as in #1 above.
