133 Bus Monitor - Substitute

Summary

  • Know the names of all the students
  • Know the route.  If the driver is off, the monitor should be able to instruct the sub-driver how to run the route to avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Monitors are responsible for fastening seat belts securely.  Monitors should instruct all children how to put on and take off belt on the back of the seat (per student ability), otherwise, placing seat belts over the back of the seats, after each run is the responsibility of the monitor.
  • Monitors are required to walk students across the street when students must pass in front of the bus/cross the street, and walk students from the bus to bus at transfer.
  • All monitors should have knowledge of operating the lift and strapping in wheelchairs regardless of which route they are assigned to.
  • Monitors are responsible for controlling student behavior and if the monitor can't it should be reported to the driver so proper action can be taken.
  • At the end of each run you must check the bus and seats to be certain that all students are OFF THE BUS.  A student might fall asleep and lay down on the floor, please check under  all seats.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills between you, the child, parent, guardian and all personnel who have involvement with the child
  • Must be physically able to evacuate handicapped children in the event of an emergency by following the written procedures in the training handbook
  • Submit to a Background Check
  • Obtain and maintain a current physical fitness certificate
  • Follow or be able to and willing to pass all drug and alcohol guidelines

 

Salary and Benefits

Payment Type:  Hourly

Salary Scope:    $8.00 per hour

Benefits:           NO BENEFITS

I understand that this is a substitute position.  As a substitute, I understand that my employment is temporary and that hours and days of employment are decided based on the availability of substitute work to be performed.  As such, I have no expectations of a pre-determined number of days or hours I will work during the year.

2. I understand that I must renew my application annually.  If I renew my application and my services have been satisfactory, I have a reasonable assurance of continued work under the same terms as in #1 above.
