Job Qualifications:

  • Cosmetology or required. Teaching experience preferred. Proficient in teaching all aspects of cosmetology and nail tech skills.
  • Have appropriate Indiana teaching license or be eligible for license based on education and work experience in Cosmetology. (Eligibility is defined as holding or be eligible for an Workplace Specialist (WS) license by having over 4000 hours in the field in the last five years.)
  • Must have active Indiana Cosmetology License and an active Cosmetology Instructor License.


Job Description:

  • Deploy best practices for the classroom setting that reflect knowledge of Cosmetology
  • Support program development, management and assessment skills to ensure student learning and program effectiveness
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of the professional career pathways and demands of the field of instruction
  • Hold high regards for professionalism and the code of ethics for Cosmetology Professionals
  • Understand courses in Cosmetology
  • Manage Client relations and salon
  • Utilize, expand and improve Cosmetology Program and skills
  • Develop internship/partnership opportunities and prepare training agreements in collaboration with the work based learning supervisor and other key staff
  • Familiar with Milady textbook and curriculum
  • Confer with parents/guardians, students, administrators, and work site supervisors
  • Collect or explore employment data in the community to assist in expanding the scope of workplace experiences
  • Prepare requisitions for supplies, and equipment in a manner which reflects planning ahead of actual needs
  • Attend workshops, conferences and staff meetings, etc., as assigned
  • Plan and attend advisory committee meetings
  • Sponsor and participate in Career-Technical Student Organizations
  • Coordinate certifications, dual credit programs with post-secondary institutions
  • Other duties as assigned
