234 Food Service Assistant (3 hours)

Hours:  10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (3 hours per day, school calendar year only)

Summary:

The Food Service Assistant (FSA) is responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of school meals. The FSA is responsible for strictly following all food safety procedures, practicing excellent customer service, understanding serving sizes and portion tools as specified in production records, general cleaning, dishwashing and other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Satellite Tech II Team Leader

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to work on time and is not absent frequently.
  • Follows established rules and practices.
  • Responsible for completing duties in a timely manner according to production schedule.
  • Prepares food according to food safety plan.
  • Serves and holds food as directed.
  • Sets up and displays serving line in an attractive and efficient manner.
  • Assists with taking and logging accurate temperatures.
  • Washes pots, pans, utensils and other equipment as directed.
  • Maintains health, safety and sanitation standards for staff, students and equipment at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining a professional and courteous attitude with fellow employees, building staff, students and parents.
  • Practices exceptional customer service.
  • Practices acceptable personal hygiene.
  • Follows department dress code.
  • Positively promotes the child nutrition program and communicates well with parents, students, staff and the community.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.

 Physical Requirements

Lifting (up to 50 pounds), sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, grasping, talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word), visual acuity (ability to see at a level which allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, inspection of machines, etc.), hearing acuity (ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal loudness levels).

 Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  Salary:  $8.61 / per hour
